The Management Team behind WildBit Studios is composed by the founders of one of the most popular gaming companies in Spain, Zigurat Software S.L. They are some of the pioneer Spanish Videogame personalities, with a background of more than twenty years in game creation, development and company management, with a well-known trajectory in this business that has earned them a widespread recognition.
They have gone through almost all available platforms, from 8bits home computers in the earliest 80's, to coin-op arcade games, and finally through mobile gaming market, living its evolution in first person for the last eight years. They have always stood out for their technologically innovative contributions to video gaming or any other sector they have been around. Only to mention some of the team members honors:
• Co-author of the first ever distributed videogame in Spain, 'Fred' back in 1984
• Authors of some internationally successful coin-op games, as 'World Rally Championship' that was awarded as 'Best Arcade Coin-op Game' in 1994's Frankfurt European Arcade Fair
• Co-Authors of the first European 3D board ever for the coin-op industry, in direct competition with Sega and Namco mega-boards. This work derived in the creation of some 3D titles as 'Surf Planet', successfully distributed in the US market by the videogames giant Namco America Inc. Some other 3D successfully titles were 'Football Power' or 'Gaelco Football', both 3D soccer games that incorporated a real ball to be shot by players, acting as an innovative gaming interface.
• Authors of some of the most downloaded ever mobile games in Spain, as 'Pang Mobile' or 'Fernando Alonso Racing', back in 2005
• Author of the 3D animation short film 'Naufrago', that was recently awarded with the first prize in the Potenza International Film Festival in Italy, and it has been projected in more than ten different countries
• One of the members of the team comes from the server-side and Internet world. He has helped many Internet start-up companies to be launched and has a enormous technical background and expertise in business intelligence, server-side high scalability, high availability architecture, and all the designs needed to support thousands of simultaneous users.
• Responsible for the engineering and architecture design of mobile internet service platform for a European first tier Telco operator.
• Development of Externaltest, a worldwide distributed monitoring service, composed by more than 30 nodes based on several locations around the world coordinated to process millions of transactions per hour.
• Proven experience in real-time massive data processing environments. Recently, one of the members of the team has been leading the design and development of an intelligent system for online advertisement trading for the world leader in this area (based in the US).
- Jorge initiated his career as entrepreneur when he founded MyAlert in 1999, a company focused on designing and implementing wireless solutions, including mobile marketing via the mobile phone. In 2001 Jorge sold Myalert to the Buongiorno group. He remained as Vice chairman till Buongiorno went public in 2003.
- Co-author of the first ever distributed videogame in Spain, ‘Fred’ back in 1984, Fernando was co-founder and Chairman of Zigurat Software S.L. in 1989, a company focused on creating, producing and distributing videogames for the emerging 8bit Personal Computers. In 1993 Zigurat Software moved into coin-op arcade games industry, where they developed many international hits, as ‘World Rally Championship’, that was awarded as ‘Best European Arcade Coin-op Game’ back in 1994. In 2002 Fernando was co-founder and CTO of Gaelco Móviles S.L. which goal was developing and internationally distributing mobile videogames. Some of the most downloaded ever mobile games in Spain, as ‘Pang Mobile’ or ‘Fernando Alonso Racing’, back in 2005 were created in-house. The Company was sold to Gaelco in 2007, and Fernando was co-founder and CTO at Mobile Snack Labs S.L., specializing in the development of service platforms through native applications installed on smartphones.
- David has been developing his career on mobility and internet since 1997. From 2001 to 2007, he played managing and technical roles in the major mobile operators in Spain, such as engineering leader in mobile TV and mobile portals in Orange Spain for five years or responsible for the rebranding of the web portal movistar.es in 2007. He started his career as entrepreneur founding several companies in the internet and mobility world such as eXternalTest, Spanish leader in internet monitoring services, Messagix specializing in mobile advertising and Scoremind, a promising Business Intelligence company that delivers its services thru the cloud. He has also a degree in Computer Science and he has earned an MBA from the prestigious IE Business School of Madrid.
- José has more than 5 years leading design, animation and videogame projects, that he has combined with an intense artistic activity on the animated cinema sector. He is the author of the short film ‘Naufrago’ that was recently awarded with the first prize in the Potenza International Film Festival in Italy, and it has been projected in more than ten different countries. On his former professional stage, he was Art Director at Mobile Snack Labs, leading all the creative and design lines of the company.
- Angel has more than 20 years of experience in the videogame industry. At the earlies 80s he was developing some videogames himself for the incoming 8bit Personal Computers; later on, in the middle 90s he joined the staff of Zigurat Software, as new partner and Director of R&D area. He was leading the research in order to implement the first European 3D board for coin-op arcade games, and was in charge of the creation of developing tools and all underlying technologies supporting Zigurat games. He was also partner and R&D Director at Gaelco Móviles, where was the direct responsible for some of the big hits of the company as ‘Pang Mobile’ or ‘Pedrosa 3D’. On his former professional stage he was co-founder of Mobile Snack Labs, S.L. where he also was in charge of the R&D department.
Digital Project for cultural services management on Smartphones and tablets (SMART)
The main objective of the project of “Digital Project for cultural services management on Smartphones and tablets” / “Plataforma digital para la gestión cultural sobre Smartphones / Tablets” (SMART) is the development of an added value software solution for cultural services management . This solution aims to improve user experience in cultural services (museums, exhibitions, shows) by using smartphones and tablets through the customization of the cultural equipment setting.
The resulting platform will integrate the ability to extract, in a playful and participative way, relevant information from the Institution's users, their lifestyle and motivations. The project will take advantage of this information for the development of expert systems that will learn automatically which contents should be recommended or displayed to achieve a unique experience that maximizes user engagement.
This project has been co financed by the Industry, Tourism, Commerce Ministry of Spain in the field of the Avanza Competitividad 2012 program.
Smart Mobile Assistant (SUSAN)
The project of Smart Mobile Assistant (SUSAN), co financed by the Industry, Tourism, Commerce Ministry in the field of the Avanza Contenidos Digitales 2011 program, has the main objective of creating smart application that helps greatly the access to basic internet functions of search and content presentation, electronic commerce and helpdesk, sharing internet access with a voice interface where the phone has an added value. The combination of voice access and direct search in internet is the basis of smart assistance applicative of this project.
This smart applicative can be organized in specialized agents customized to the needs of every type of user. The better use of the WiFi existing infrastructures and their capability of transmission will allow supporting the data plan necessary for the fluid transmission capacities of this applicative, and for the provision of existing internet content.
